- The content is much more rigorous than a regular course
- There are added GPA points to final grades for each course
- AP courses are available to eligible 11th and 12th graders
- If you are interested in taking a course, it is your responsibility to let your counselor know the May before you wish to enroll (a 1:1 meeting would be a great time to discuss this!) You must be approved by your counselor; teacher input will be considered as well
- Students have the opportunity to take the Advanced Placement test in May for AP courses (Please note: students enrolled in an AP course can elect to test or not test in May, and students do not have to be enrolled in an AP course to test in May, although it is recommended)

What is the process for testing through MGLVA for an Advanced Placement course?
- The student needs to contact their local school as soon as possible during the school year.
- The student/family needs to connect with the AP Coordinator at their local Brick and Mortar school and see if the school will allow the student to test with them (Note: some schools are not an AP testing site)
- It is the student’s responsibility to register with and make payment to the school where he/she is testing.
- If the student/family has questions, please contact your grade level counselor at MGLVA but all responsibility for signing up for the AP exam, paying for the exam, and arriving at the testing location is up to the family.
