Destinations Career and Technical Education Program
The Destinations Careers Program is new to MGLVA and focuses on career technical education. We have hired several new, CTE teachers who are experts in their field and who are eager to help prepare our students for the careers of tomorrow!
The program focuses on skills for in-demand careers in the following fields:
Please note: Only students who participate in The Destinations Career Program for at least two years will have enough exposure to CTE courses to be best prepared for certification testing.

Career-Focused Clubs
Destinations students have the opportunity to join several career-focused clubs.
HOSA
DECA
HOSA
- HOSA stands for Health Occupations Students of America. It provides a unique program of leadership development, motivation, and recognition exclusively for students planning on pursuing a health-related career; from nursing to vet care! HOSA assists members to Develop effective leadership qualities and skills by developing character and promoting responsible citizenship. ... Strengthen their academic and technical skills. Create friendships and social networks.
- Why join HOSA?
- Joining HOSA would give you chances to win scholarships and give you a competitive advantage when applying for colleges and in the workforce.
- Who do I contact to sign up?
- You will want to email Ms.Van Wormer. Her email is [email protected]
- Costs?
- $20 for state registration fee+ national registration fee. If the price impacts the ability for you to pay the membership costs and makes hesitant to join, please contact Mrs.Van Wormer and she will figure out a solution.
DECA
- DECA is an organization for students with career interests in marketing, entrepreneurship, finance, hospitality, and management. It prepares you to be academically prepared, community oriented, professionally responsible, experienced leaders! Being in DECA allows you to compete at different events, all while learning and preparing for your future career!
- Why join DECA?
- The training, competing, and learning members do in DECA rewards you down the road. DECAteaches necessary life skills, helps create connections throughout your state, country, and maybe even the world. You will stand out during college admissions and job interviews.

Career and Technical Education Credits
PURPOSE
The intent of alternative credit delivery options is to integrate academic content within CTE programming that results in students leaving the CTE class proficient in and earning credit for both the academic content and the CTE content.

GUIDELINES
Students who successfully complete the semester CTE courses listed below, will earn/fulfill the related HS credit(s).

- MMC requires students to demonstrate proficiency with content knowledge (not courses)
- MMC graduation requirements cannot be waived but can be fulfilled through CTE where there is an academic and/or MMC connection
- The law states that “School districts and public-school academies that operate CTE programs are encouraged to integrate the credit requirements of the MMC into those programs.”
