Recommendation Letter Request
Tips for your letter of recommendation
- Request letters from teachers, community members, counselors, and/or employers
- Allow as much time as possible for someone to return your letter. You don’t want them to have to rush!
- Give people as much information as you can so they can write you an accurate and positive letter
- Explain what you are applying for to the person you are asking to write a letter
- Try to ask someone who knows you well (your strengths/abilities) and can write you a strong letter
- Make sure you thank the person writing your letter
- Keep copies of any letters of recommendation you receive in your “Important Documents” location
